GIA – Government Information Apps – the name

Folks,

Experimenting with a new name for this blog, “GIA”, or Government Information Apps, which is a step towards describing the site’s core content, the intersection of information processing & government apps. Alternative names not making the cut included GIP, or Government Information Processing and “CPo”, or the C4ISR Post, where CPo is pronounce “see-po”. I also considered BlackBoxApps, AppGov, and as well as Aegiru & Enoprty (letters in augeri & entropy sorted, respectively). A tongue-in-cheek name might be 4CISR, pronounced “for-see-zer”.

That said, I’m not entirely sold on GIA as the name for this site, and so am open to suggestions from the readership in the coming days and weeks. Suggested blog names that are of the caliber of Lewis Shepherd’s “Shepherd’s Pi” or Juan Cole’s “Informed Comment” are of the most interest. The reader providing a name that is deemed worthy to replace GIA as the name of this blog will be invited to prepare a guest post (but sorry, no cruise!).

All the best,

Chris
